A full wrap on a standard car or SUV takes two to four days in the shop. Most Edmonton customers drop off Monday morning and pick up Wednesday or Thursday.
That window covers the whole job: wash, decontamination, panel disassembly, film application, trimming, and post heating. The actual squeegee work is only part of it.
Smaller jobs move much faster. Trim work or a single panel can often be finished in one business day.
Shop time depends far more on how much film goes on the vehicle than on the vehicle itself. Here is what most jobs run in an Edmonton shop.

A blackout treatment on factory chrome trim is the fastest way to change how a vehicle looks. Many Edmonton drivers book it as a half day job and drive home the same afternoon.
Prep is the longest and least glamorous stage. The vehicle gets a full wash, a clay or chemical decontamination pass, and an alcohol wipe down on every surface that will take film.
Then the disassembly starts. Door handles, mirror caps, badges, lights, and bumper trim come off so the film can wrap behind edges instead of stopping at them.
On Edmonton vehicles this stage runs long in spring. Road salt and winter grit build up in door jambs and wheel arches, and every bit of it has to come out before film touches paint.
Installers work panel by panel, usually starting with the roof and hood. Large flat panels go quickly, while bumpers, mirrors, and recessed areas take the most time per square foot.
A two person crew on a common vehicle will finish the body in a day and a half to two days. Complex shapes push that longer.
Every stretched area gets heated to lock the film into its new shape so it does not lift or pull back later. This step is skipped by cheap shops and is exactly why their wraps fail early.
Trim goes back on, edges get inspected, and the vehicle sits indoors overnight when possible. Then it is ready for pickup.
Vehicle size matters less than most people expect. A Tesla Model 3 and a full size pickup can take similar time because the pickup has more flat area per panel.
Vinyl needs a warm, stable environment. Film and adhesive behave properly around 18 to 22 degrees Celsius, and a vehicle that arrives at minus 25 has to reach that temperature all the way through its panels before work starts.
In January and February that warm up alone can add half a day. It is not padding, it is the difference between a wrap that holds and one that lifts at the first chinook swing.
Spring is the other pinch point. Vehicles coming off Anthony Henday and Whitemud commutes arrive coated in salt film and gravel dust, which stretches the prep stage.
The upside is that Alberta winters are the best time to book. Shops are quieter from November through March, so lead times are shorter even if each job runs slightly longer.
Two numbers matter when you plan. Shop time is how long your vehicle is with us, and lead time is how long until your booking date.
From May through September, Edmonton shops book out two to four weeks. A full colour change on a personal vehicle should be scheduled well before the weekend you want to show it off.
Commercial work needs more runway. Printed graphics for multiple trucks and vans across a company fleet require design proofs, print production, and lamination before a single vehicle enters the bay, which typically adds one to two weeks.
If your timeline is tight, a smaller coverage package gets a big visual change with far less downtime. Hood, roof, and mirrors can be done inside a day.
The wrap is drivable immediately, but the adhesive keeps curing for a few days. Skip washing for 48 hours and avoid touchless or brush car washes for the first week.
Park indoors if you can during that first week, especially in cold weather. After that, normal Edmonton driving is no problem.
